HISTORY
Calzaturificio PETRA was founded in 1969 with the passion and entrepreneurial spirit of its founder Vittorio Petrini, who was filled with an innate love of beautiful fashion footwear. Early in his career, his novel designs became wildly popular in the US market. Let’s chart the history:

1969. First production of the PETRA line designed for the American market. The opening of a New York showroom coincided with immediate success of the products. Very quickly, PETRA Footwear was selling over 100.000 pairs yearly in the US market.
From the mid-‘80s to the early ‘90s, high-fashion PETRA designs were featured prominently in numerous articles and editorials in national newspapers, magazines including Vogue USA, and prominent trade publications.
In 1997 PETRA began to focus its business on the production of footwear for important, innovative footwear designers.

2006. With the entry of Vittorio’s son Cristiano to the firm, PETRA consolidated its position by expanding the structure of the Design Studio and increasing staff and production capacity.

2023. PETRA today is a key international source for the production of fine designer footwear, whose longstanding tradition of luxury is blended with environmental sustainability.
